Compliance Region

Plan for future regulatory compliance obligations with the compliance region user profile field.

As more countries institute pixel tracking regulations, you need a way to communicate your users' geographic locations to Sailthru. The compliance region field works with existing controls to give granular control of compliance jurisdictions.

Compliance region functions separately from pixel consent tracking and only affects how profiles with no consent for pixel tracking are treated. A profile that has explicitly opted in or opted out of pixel tracking will not be affected by the compliance region field.

Note: You must request that Sailthru enables your account for Open Pixel Tracking and Region Enforcement to use this feature.

How it works

The compliance region field is set by you with an update in the Sailthru platform or through the User API. The field is also available for Hosted Pages so you can capture compliance region at user sign-up.

Note: Sailthru cannot infer compliance region from a user profile. It’s a field that must be explicitly set by you or by your users.

Set the compliance region in Audience Builder

Use the Bulk Update Profiles option to set the compliance region on multiple profiles.

1. Navigate to Audience Builder.
2. Select the source type and any list names. Select Done.
3. Select Other Actions in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.
   
4. Select Bulk Update Profiles. The update modal opens.
5. Review the source and select Continue.
6. Select Compliance Region from the Choose update dropdown list.
   
   
7. Select a country from the Choose compliance region dropdown list.
8. If you wish to add more than one compliance region, select Add update and repeat steps 6 and 7.
9. Select Continue.
10. Review the settings for your update job and then select Start Update.
11. You will receive an email once the update job is complete.

Set the compliance region with Hosted Pages

Build an HTML hosted page to capture a user’s region or use the drag-and-drop visual composer.

In an HTML page

Add a drop-down menu of regions for your users to select. Using the following HTML in your form gives you a dropdown selector pre-filled with supported region codes:

In the Visual Composer

Configure a form field for capturing compliance region in addition to other existing form fields.

A compliance region drop-down form field is available to support adding compliance region capture to the Hosted Page.

1. Select Add new field under the Manage Fields section.
2. Select the compliance region field from the menu to add it to your form.
   
   
3. Save your changes.

Set the compliance region with the User API

Use the compliance_region parameter to update compliance regions on user profiles.
