Consent-Based Email Open Tracking
Available to all customers
To help support evolving privacy requirements, Sailthru now includes new capabilities for collecting and managing recipient consent for email open tracking.
What's New
Store Email Tracking Consent
A new pixel_tracking_consent profile field is now available to store each recipient's email open tracking consent. Supported values include:
- opt-in – Recipient has consented to email open tracking.
- opt-out – Recipient has declined email open tracking.
- null – No consent preference has been recorded.
Automatically Suppress the Open Tracking Pixel
When the Pixel Tracking Compliance feature flag is enabled, Sailthru automatically suppresses the email tracking pixel for recipients whose pixel_tracking_consent value is opt-out.
For customers using the compliance feature flag, profiles with a null consent value are also treated as opt-out, ensuring email open tracking is performed only for recipients who have explicitly opted in.
Capture Consent
You can collect and update email tracking consent using any of the following methods:
- HTML Hosted Pages
- Visual Hosted Pages
- User API
- Bulk Profile Updates through Audience Builder
View Consent
You can retrieve a recipient's stored email tracking consent using the User API.
Coming Soon
We're continuing to expand consent management capabilities with additional ways to capture and manage email tracking consent, along with more tools to support evolving privacy and compliance requirements.
