Target an Offer

Offers can be made available to all of your Members, or they can be targeted to only certain Members. Targeting Offers is managed through the use of Segments, Places, and Location Categories.

Segments use logical conditions to define the criteria for inclusion. Before targeting the Offers based on a Segment, you must first create and publish the Segment with the desired conditions. See Getting Started with Segments for more information.

Places allow you to define geographical places such as stores, restaurants, or kiosks. Before targeting the Offer based on a Place, you must first create and publish the Place. See Getting Started with Places for more information.

Location Categories are used to group Places together. Before targeting the Offer based on a Location Category, you must first create the Location Category.

Target Offer Using Segments

To target an Offer using Segments:

  1. Select Campaigns from the top navigation bar, then select Offers > Offers from the side navigation menu. The Offers screen is displayed.

  2. Search for and select the desired Offer (see Search for an Offer for more information on the available search options). The Offer Details screen is displayed, with the Definition tab selected by default.

  1. Select the Eligibility tab.

  2. The Included Segments section is used to make the Offer eligible only to Members in the selected Segment (or Segments). In this section, from the drop-down menu, select the desired Segment. Optionally you can type all or part of the Segment name to filter this menu.

  1. Click Add Segment. The selected Segment is displayed within the Included Segments section.

  1. Repeat the above steps as needed. If you add multiple Segments, a Member must be in only ONE of the selected Segments to be eligible for this Offer. That is, multiple Included Segments are joined with an OR operator.

  2. Optionally, to remove an Included Segment, click the Remove icon.

  1. The Excluded Segments section is used to make the Offer ineligible to Members in the selected Segment (or Segments). In this section, from the drop-down menu, select the desired Segment. Optionally you can type all or part of the Segment name to filter this menu.

  1. Click Add Segment. The selected Segment is displayed within the Excluded Segments section. If you add both an Included Segment and an Excluded Segment to the Offer, the Excluded Segment takes priority. Therefore, if a Member is selected by both the Included and the Excluded Segment, that Member will be ineligible for this Offer.

  2. Repeat the above steps as needed. If you add multiple Segments, a Member must be in only ONE of the selected Segments to be ineligible for this Offer. That is, multiple Excluded Segments are joined with an OR operator.

  3. Optionally, to remove an Excluded Segment, click the Remove icon.

ML-Based Eligibility

If you enabled ML scoring using the Margin Optimization model in the Offer, the Eligibility tab displays the distribution percentage of Members across the discount levels selected (see Configure Optimal Discount Levels for more information).

You do not have to select a Segment when using Margin Optimization. By default, this Offer will use as its audience the scored Members who fall into the selected discount levels. However, you can optionally assign a Segment as well, using the steps described above. If you manually add a Segment (or Segments), the Offer will use as its audience all scored Members who also meet the conditions of the selected Segment(s).

Target Offer Using Places

To target an Offer using Places:

  1. Select Campaigns from the top navigation bar, then select Offers > Offers from the side navigation menu. The Offers screen is displayed.

  2. Search for and select the desired Offer (see Search for an Offer for more information on the available search options). The Offer Details screen is displayed, with the Definition tab selected by default.

  2. The Included Locations section is used to make the Offer eligible only to specified Places. In this section, from the drop-down menu, select the desired Place. Optionally you can type all or part of the Place name to filter this menu.

  3. Click Add Location. The selected Place is displayed within the Included Location section.

  4. Repeat the above steps as needed. If you add multiple Places, the Places are joined with an OR operator.

  5. Optionally, to remove an Included Place, click the Remove icon.
