Getting Started with Badges

Overview

Badges are a type of Reward, used to gamify Member experiences by granting Badges to Members in exchange for spending Metrics, or for completing specific actions. Badges allow you to recognize Members and to incentivize them to engage with your loyalty program. Members can also earn higher level Badges, collect multiple Badges, and view and share their Badges with friends and other Members.

The Badge-type Reward controls various aspects of the Badge, such as how many Metrics are required to earn it. The details of the Badge itself are managed from the Badges screen.

Badge Types

The platform supports several Badge types, each designed for different use cases and marketing strategies. The available Badge types in Loyalty are as follows:

  • Status: Given to Members based on their expertise in specific products or related skills. Typically, Status badges have levels to show gradation of expertise.

  • Collector: Given to Members who accomplish a milestone. Members can collect multiple instances of Collector Badges and may be able to exchange them for Rewards or more prestigious Badges.

  • Membership: Given to Members as a way to track paid memberships. Members earn the Badge when they enroll, and you can use the Badge as a way to track the membership expiration period. 

  • Benefit: Given to Members to track a membership benefit. Typically, the details of the benefit itself are managed in an external system, but the Badge asset allows you to use the Loyalty platform to track which Members have earned it, and then present this information to other systems. 

Access

The Badges screen is used to view, create, and manage the Badges in your loyalty program. To access the Badges screen, select Rewards from the top navigation bar, then select Badges > Badges from the side navigation menu.

Exports

The platform supports only Standard Exports for exporting Badges and Badge-related data. See Export Badges for more information.
